How can counselling help you?
Our lives can be very demanding and pressurized which can really impact how you feel. Are you feeling sad, depressed, or anxious and struggling to cope. Maybe work is difficult or an important relationship is making you unhappy. Are you feeling unhealthy or maybe you are struggling with an addiction. Do you feel that you are living the life you want or are you living on autopilot? If so counselling can help you.
My main approach is Person Centred and I will work with you in a non directive way helping you to explore and find effective solutions to difficulties you may be having. I also work with mindfulness based approaches which can really enhance counselling and provide a toolkit for you to use in between sessions.
Mindfulness based approaches combine elements of eastern meditation and cognitive therapy. Mindfulness means paying attention to our present moment experiences without judgment. We focus on how we are feeling, our emotions, thoughts and bodily sensations. We become more accepting of what’s happening rather than allowing the mind to judge our experiences. This liberates us to start to really feel alive rather than living life on automatic pilot.
I offer a time limited, solution-focussed approach for issues which have occurred relatively recently in your life.
I also provide psychotherapy for any problems you may have which are more long term.
I offer flexible appointment times including evenings and weekends.
Talking to someone who is objective can help you to achieve greater understanding, deal with fears, anxiety and confusion, challenge limiting beliefs, leading to self acceptance and appreciation of who you really are.
I will work in partnership with you because I believe you have the inner resources to discover the right solutions that will be best for you. I will not judge you rather I will really listen to you and reflect back to you sometimes to help you gain greater clarity.
